Indianapolis, Indiana

Just wanted to announce my intention on selling my immediate denture practice in Indianapolis, IN. I have done thousands of immediate dentures and believe I have done more immediate dentures than anyone in the country. I use oral sedation on 98% of all my patients and a routine day is a consultation in the morning adjacent to an immediate denture extraction and the same in the afternoon. Literally I start one and finish one twice a day, 2 days a week. Tues and Thurs. Why do I only work 2 days a week? Because I can. Been doing this for many years. I use halcion and versed literally on everyone and never had an emergency. I have gotten this down to a science and I see about 2/3 of my patients from Indiana and the other 1/3 from out of state. I have not met another dentist that has restricted his practice solely to immediate dentures using oral sedation. My average patient travels a couple hours to see me and I've seen patients from TX, CT, FL and have one in a few weeks flying in from AK (Alaska). I usually see patients twice. Once for the consultation appt (while we are taking photos, xrays, vitals and sedating our surgery patient) and then the patient has to return for the surgery appt. My patients that fly in I see on Tues 8am and I then do the immediate that Thurs at 1pm. Patients sense my confidence and I literally close the deal on every patient I see as long as they have the funds. We do provide access to CareCredit if they want financing. Yesterday I had 6 one hour free consultations (no surgeries-unusual day) and received deposits/full payment on 5 of these. The 6th had no money, no credit and was referred to the dental school. Tomorrow I have another 4 consultations along with a 20 teeth extraction case. Where all these new patients are coming from is beyond me. I am booked up for the next 5-6 weeks. I am working hard at working less not more as I'm more into moving to FL over the next few months than building my practice. Been there, done that. I do excellent work and have excellent results. I get many of my patients from referrals. Yet I am very honest with my patients and frequently turn away patients that are not ready for immediates especially on lowers. I do NO general dentistry. This practice is great for someone that enjoys general dentistry, oral sedation, extractions and dentures. I refer all my general dentistry out which is such a waste, as more phone calls than not, just want single extractions, wisdom teeth removal, dentures without extractions, general dentistry, etc which I will not do. Many patients want general dentistry with sedation which I do not do. If I encounter a tough full mouth case, I would rather do a one arch upper denture $3000 case than a full extraction $6000 case if I feel that this would be too much for the patient. Money is secondary. I always put myself in my chair and ask what would I personally want done to me. Many of my patients are scared to death of dentists and want all their teeth extracted but really need a maxillary denture and restoration of the lower with sedation. Again, I do no general dentistry but this practice is perfect for 2 days of immediates with sedation and 3 days of general dentistry with sedation. Want to make a ton of cash? You better be prepared to put a ton of time in. This is a practice that is not for the average schmoe but for the overachiever. My fee per arch is appx $2-3k which includes denture, sedation, extractions, etc. I wait 4 months and then do relines at an extra charge of $250/arch. My current lease ends 5/31/10 and I'm looking at a larger space within the same complex that is an existing dental office that the dentist is leaving to build a suite for himself. I can relocate this office anywhere but really prefer my next space to be an ex-dental office due to the huge savings. My patients don't see me because they drove by my location. They see me because of my reputation and meager advertising. My next office will be geared to doing what I do along with general dentistry. The dentist that buys my practice is buying a gem of a practice. If you can't do a million bucks/yr within a couple years then you are not right for this practice. I'm uneasy about releasing my financials to the internet world but I will say the practice is for sale for $295k. I will have no problem selling this practice. Just want to sell it to the right dentist. I will even finance this practice if I have to. Prefer not but I will. Reasons for selling: 1. Time to relocate to FL. Selling the practice at a great price as I will be doing the same with my house. Ready to proceed to the next chapter in my life. In a warmer climate. 2. I have another very lucrative non-dental business that I am involved with. 3. I am working with only one employee. My ex-wife! LOL. Still love her but not in love with her. She runs the front desk, places the phone on voice mail when we do surgery (yeah, know that is not recommended but what other choice does my prospective patient have?), does the insurance, cleans the office, yada, yada. Again I only work 2 days a week but she is there 5 days. She knows as much as I do about oral sedation and my techniques and she will be a real asset to the dentist that buys my practice. She's 45 y.o, great looking (ex-model), patients love her and can do all aspects of front/back office procedures. This practice can be relocated literally anywhere but will give preference to the dentist that can employ my ex. Other than my expertise in extractions, she's my equal and I always have her in the operatory and welcome her opinion on my immediate cases. Her opinion on verifying midlines, shades, tooth size, sedation levels, insurance, confirming patients, financing, assisting, yada yada is second to none. I'd go head to head with any dentist in the country on immediates or oral sedation and I'd venture to say she worth her weight in gold. Whether you retain her or not will be your decision. Again, my lease is up 5/31/10 and my 2 operatory office (one room for consults and the other for surgery) is not suitable for what this practice is capable of. Need 4 ops or more and general dentistry along with my "niche" will make for a very successful practice. Of course, I will train the new buyer on my techniques. We can move my equipment to the location of your choice and buy a couple ops of used equipment and get into a new location at a reasonable price. I'm a very good dentist but a better businessman. My opinion is you don't buy new equipment unless you can pay for it with cash. Fully furnished 2 op office that can use another couple ops of equipment that can be bought used and still look nice and when you are rolling in cash then buy new if you desire. My patients travel cross country to see me, not to see my dental equipment. Enough for now, email me for more info. Just be prepared to sign something that you will not discuss my personal production/collection on the net just like I would not like to place my bank accts on the net. I prefer my financial privacy. You will be free to discuss this with your advisors or potential clients. I will pay a brokers fee if I can cash out but again, cash is not my objective. Just looking for the right dentist. Good luck to all. Contact me here: Dr. Gerald Levin galevin@hotmail.com www.sleepdental.net Home phone will be furnished to serious parties only. Do not call my office phone to discuss this-email first. PS I could use a good contract on my sale. Please contact me if you can provide a good contract that protects both buyer and seller.
